OA-Leroy 3D — Dimensional Display Type
OA-Leroy 3D — ตัวพิมพ์แสดงผลสามมิติ
A dimensional display cut of the Leroy lettering system — Thai and Latin — drawn for exhibition and title use where the letterform has to hold at poster scale.
Depth as drawing, not effect
A three-dimensional display type fails the moment the depth is applied as a filter. The extrusion has to be drawn: the edges have to be decided where they meet the face, and the Thai marks have to be given room to sit above a letter that is now physically thicker.
OA-Leroy 3D was drawn for exhibition titling, where the letterform is read at two metres and its construction is fully visible.
Formstorming
The accompanying study, Formstorming Z 100 Repeat, holds one letterform and one constraint and runs a hundred variations through it. It is a teaching piece as much as a design one — the point is that the constraint, not the invention, is what produces range.
