Four posters, one primitive each. A teaching series that asks what a single element can carry when nothing else is allowed into the frame.
One element, no escape route
Design students reach for more elements when a composition is not working. The series exists to remove that option: each poster is allowed one primitive, and everything — hierarchy, depth, rhythm, colour — has to be produced from variations of that one thing.
The four posters are used as the elements case study in the author’s textbook on contemporary communication design, where the point is that constraint is a generator, not a limitation.
